Dear Students and Parents,

With the onset of the coronid pandemic we all had to make changes in how we work and learn.  CSP quickly pivoted to a virtual learning program and through that process learned what could work in that environment and what were the challenges.  Throughout the spring and summer we have been hard at work researching safety protocols and best teaching practices for this falls instruction.  We have also reached out to our students and families to see what kind of program that you would like for us to provide that would be safe and support our mission of providing an affordable and accessible program.  Through our research we have found the following:

To provide a safe environment we must:

  • have smaller classes with less students

  • have shorter classes

  • all wear masks

  • provide HEPA filters in our classes for in-person instruction

  • provide time for exchange of air between classes

  • sanitize chairs, stands and common areas between classes

  • not share any materials

  • have self attestation and health protocols for class safety

Students and families would like:

  • virtual classes for grades 4 and 5

  • in-person instruction for Youth Orchestra and Adults

  • additional individualized instruction for all students

With the above in mind we will provide the following this fall and will pivot our instruction as appropriate.

Elementary Instruction

  • delay beginners until either second session or next fall

  • grades 4 & 5 will begin with a virtual classes and a private lesson each week

Youth Orchestra

  • will begin with a hybrid program with one in-person class and one virtual lesson per week

  • depending upon enrollment the class will be divided into two sections to insure a safe number of students in the class at any time

Adult Ensembles

  • will begin with a hybrid program with one in-person class and one small group lesson for skill development every other week

  • depending upon enrollment the class will be divided into two sections to insure a safe number of students in the class at any time

We are hoping that the above will be temporary and that we will be able to resume our normal model for instruction soon.  Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

Please stay safe and well,
